Title: Re: John Britten Post by: rz5mark on November 24, 2024, 08:04:23 AM I loved reading about those bikes in the early 90's. Inspirational guy and motivated. It would have been great to see what he would have come up with had he not passed away...

Amazing place and I have MANY photos taken there. They had a large display about BRITTEN and his machines. Trip I'll remember forever.
Title: Re: John Britten Post by: Steve G. on November 24, 2024, 01:30:13 PM I’ve also been to Motorcycle Mecca in Invercargill, witnessed Britten machines there. I watched seasons at Westwood as Gary Goodfellow test rode prototype Britten machines during the New Zealand off season. I even went to the IOM TT 1994 for the full two weeks, to witness John Britten’s attempt (somewhat tragic as it turns out) at the TT. Even a very odd unexpected but ultimately epic occasion during an off day racing, in downtown Douglas, where John ran up the street we were walking along , following his bike being ridden by someone I forgot,,,,Johns big mop of hair bouncing as he carried a bike stand ,,,where they rolled right up to withinn3’ of us right in front of the Diadora outlet store where it turns out they had an endorsement day there,,,,and instantly we were literally right in the middle of a soon to be 3000+ roaring fans!! Epic. |
