Title: Canyon Ride
Post by: hardrockminer on July 26, 2024, 07:45:27 PM
Sweetums decided we were going for a ride today so we took the Goldwing, loaded up the doggies and headed out to Cache Creek.  From there we had to decide whether. to go to Lillooet and down to Lytton or to go down the Canyon to Hope and then come back up the Coke.  We settled for option B.  The area from just south of Ashcroft to Spences Bridge was recently a fire zone and we could still see things burning in a couple of spots in the hills, but there was no smoke so it was comfortable.  That area is mainly grass and sage, but it burned right down to the highway in a couple of spots, but didn't cross it.  Traffic was a bit backed up at the Nicomen underpass, as they are still working on smoothing out the corner.  Otherwise the highway was good, but lots of trucks and few passing lanes.  Leaving Hope, the traffic was really intense and it was flying!  After a half dozen years in the metropolis of Chase we aren't used to that many vehicles.  Stopped in Merritt for gas and picked up a Boston Royal pizza for supper when we got home.  All in all a good day...580 km.
