Title: White Lake Cawston Ride
Post by: Runningdog on July 21, 2024, 06:57:01 PM
Hot, hot, hot.....too hot to enjoy a ride any longer than a few klicks, early in the day...

Well, Thursday may, I say, "May", bring cooler weather, in the mid twenties, perhaps.

Anybody interested in a ride to and around the South Okanagan on Thursday?   White Lake Road, Back Road to Cawston, back to Penticton thru Keremeos and Green Mountain Road.....about 220 klicks from Westbank.  Twenty some odd klicks gravel.

I was looking at the BC fire map yesterday and concluded there aen't a whole lot of rides that don't have fires blocking the way.  I'm thinking of a ride up to Clearwater.

So far, we're doing not too badly, in the south, for fires blocking highways, at the present time.

Henry, you are allowed to sit for a couple of days after a ride like that.

I'm changing chain and sprockets tomorrow. Wednesday, going for a hike with a friend I've known since 1970. If I survive all that, I could be up for a spin around the block.

Have not gotten that far down the road, yet....may be a rain day.   We'll have a better idea Wednesday.

Was thinking 930ish at Blendz coffee in Westbank.

I do hope it rains and if not I will be there.

Got the chain and sprockets done. Makes it a whole new bike. If the weather allows, it should be a good ride.

We should know if the weather will co-operate by 730 tomorrow morning.  If it's raining, no go.  Overcast, we'll see.

Great ride today. That Fairview White Lake Road is one of the best I've ever ridden. Perfect pavement, no loose gravel, really sweet curve sets. Green Mountain road is still good, but it's showing its age.

We hit a few patches of rain heading back from Penticton. About half an hour after I got home, it really started dumping down. I checked the weather radar and it was obvious that Westside Road was NOT where any of us would want to be. Henry, did you make it home okay?

Yes I made it home but when I turned off Westside Rd I hit heavy down pours, high winds and got soaked. Temp dropped down to 7 so it was a bit cold. Good ride other then that. ;D
