Title: Re: Motorcycle Events 2024 Post by: Kiwi Canuck on January 12, 2024, 05:34:29 PM Steve, I was surprised to bump into you at the Vancouver Motorcycle Show today, good see you up and on your feet.
I enjoyed the show, must have bumped into 12 plus people I haven't seen in ages, good to reconnect. The ADV Motocycle Area was very active and had a few presentations which was good to see, they kept all the pirate clothing vendors at the opposite end of the show. Man it was cold out, heading back to my car it felt like it was -25 C and saw one brave person rode their bike there, maybe he was cheap and was up for the free bike parking. ;D Title: Re: Motorcycle Events 2024 Post by: Steve G. on January 12, 2024, 09:34:40 PM Good to see you and your lovely wife Dave! Yes, a 7 day river of antibiotics do make a difference it seems. It was a last minute decision to go with my bro in law, still enthusiastic in two wheeled machines after a 6 month rocky history in new RE machine.
Yes, the bike show. Clearly the game changer is the uncovered area to feed 1/2 frozen parking payment machines in 50 km/hr winds at -20C. 10% of the machines frozen. Completely Ducking ridiculous. The show is about 80% the previous show in 2020. Ducati and BMW were indeed no shows as per the rumor's. Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha had full presence, honestly don't think Suzuki was there. HD in full display. Aprilia/Vespa a small display, KTM full display mostly fully attended by the personel from Daytona with Fenton at the head table. The usual assortment of touring companies, insurance companies, etc. Very pleasantly surprised to see adventure motorcycle segment company Mosko Moto out of White Salmon, WA with a full big display showing their unique riding garments as well ass their panniers and tasnk bags. Very high quality, I was a buyer way back in 2018, great stuff. Also saw Mountainview Motorsports in Chilliwack with alot of year and garments, helmets, 60% off tires, lots of stuff. Title: Re: Motorcycle Events 2024 Post by: rz5mark on January 13, 2024, 06:51:54 AM The peachland swap meet, anyone ever attended ? Is it a " V TWIN" event for the most part ?

Trevor promoted it on here a lot and John says he lives nearby. But it’s totally Magpies event. There’s lots of people and participants. Sounds like a pretty eclectic selection of bikes show up. It’s totally doable even for a day ride. I spoke with Magpie (Cliff) for quite a while the other day. Seems like a great guy. I look forward to meeting him. Frank I am not able to fuse this season so did not think it was worth it Title: Re: Motorcycle Events 2024 Post by: Steve G. on August 22, 2024, 09:42:50 PM I’m not super keen on going myself , a bunch of old riding buddies on the island were asking me, cause I was a VME member for 25+ yrs. Title: Re: Motorcycle Events 2024 Post by: Steve G. on September 03, 2024, 08:26:13 PM This is an event I might actually get to go to. III Moto Giro D’costa Del Sole. September 15th, 2024. Roberts Creek, BC. Actually a very informal gathering at the home of Alan Comfort, who has a very cool place, incredible shop and hangout area about 5-10 minutes north of Gibsons . He’s had this gathering happening for I’m guessing as long as he’s moved up there from East Van,, 10 years?? Anyways, primarily a 300cc and smaller, 30 yrs and older bike gathering,,,,I’ve never taken my CT70 up there cause I’m not allowed on the highway, and I don’t take 4 wheels unless it’s a physical impediment.. most people bring all their big stuff, Al is perfectly understandable, any origin or manufacturer. I’d probably take the Laverda, mainly because it would handle the traffic gong show coming back down the ‘cut’, At this point I’m 25% in, based weather and whether my body, still recuperating from the surgery S#*tshow of the last 12 months are feeling. If you decide to check out the cool gathering, maybe send him an email at alan.comfort@gmail.com. |
