Title: FFFCycles returns Post by: fffCycles on October 02, 2023, 11:45:06 AM HeyGuys,
Just an update. They discharged me Wednesday got home Friday, doing far better so upright and moving around quite well. Now I have to relearn balance, walking correctly and writing as 4 months of screwed up has taught me a lot of bad habits apparently. Glad to be free and feeling so much better and with some luck and work I will be back in my shop to finish off the projects I started in the spring (oh yeah) perhaps driving and riding again soon enough. Title: Re: FFFCycles returns Post by: fffCycles on October 03, 2023, 06:55:18 AM Thanks Guys. So nice to be upright and breathing being able to walk is a real bonus!
Trust you are mending well Steve. Frank Title: Re: FFFCycles returns Post by: hardrockminer on October 03, 2023, 11:24:41 AM Sorry to hear you were ill Frank. What was the issue?
Title: Re: FFFCycles returns Post by: fffCycles on October 04, 2023, 07:10:57 AM Three years ago I was hit with an Immune Deficiency issue which they eventually got me back from and in the last six months it came back slowly with a vengeance. Vision has been double with “Dancing Eyes” so BAD vision and balance, using a walker and no driving/riding/working in my shop since February. They will never cure this they say but at least make me functional again so life is decent.
Back walking pretty good and vision e around recovering well so all good result, just have to be patient. I am good and happy to be upright so this is fine. That is the short version and should do. Frank Title: Re: FFFCycles returns Post by: Wheels on October 04, 2023, 08:31:41 AM Frank, good to hear you are getting well again. I also had a big set back last year at this time and am still recovering and it is doubtful I will regain all of my functions as they were before the hospital stay during the fall last year. On a positive note I was able to jettison both the walker and my cane after a few months of coaching from June to the point of almost collapsing a few times. I have made it back to the garage over the summer and during the last month June has had me out for a few short rides to test my strength and equilibrium.
Just take one day at a time as we no longer heal quickly as we get older. Glad to hear you are back again. Title: Re: FFFCycles returns Post by: Runningdog on October 04, 2023, 08:59:49 AM Both of you, Frank and John, thank you for sharing. Too many rumours floating around regarding what had side-lined you guys. Truth and openess carries all.
Title: Re: FFFCycles returns Post by: hardrockminer on October 05, 2023, 04:22:21 AM Thanks for the update Frank and John. I understand how your worlds have become smaller as a result. We all have issues as we get older but mine (hip replacements) are tiny by comparison. Lately I've been thinking more about the uncertainty of life. I do all I can physically to remain healthy and flexible. It's a daily grind, but the result so far has been the ability to do pretty much what I want when I want. I'm definitely not the person I was at 21 but I think I'm the best person I can be at my current age.
Keep moving forward guys. Title: Re: FFFCycles returns Post by: Twisted_Twin on October 05, 2023, 08:01:25 AM Thanks for the update, John. Jenn and I are glad you're doing better.
Title: Re: FFFCycles returns Post by: MotoLobo on October 05, 2023, 12:35:45 PM John.....Erica and I saw you & June sneaking a ride a couple Sundays ago, at the Pitt Meadows Airport. I thought I recognized that little red Sportster coming down the road, with a loving escort behind. Good on you and continued best wishes.
All the best to you too Frank, your positive attitude will stand you in good stead. That, and a goodly amount of meditative shoptime! Cheers, Rob |
