Title: Re: 1978 Kawasaki KZ 1000 Post by: hardrockminer on March 21, 2023, 05:17:20 AM Except for the price I would take the '78 over the '75 because it's more original. The '75 is OK but lots of incorrect parts. The '78 looks correct but a bit overpriced. Is that the bike we saw in the Peachland gathering last summer? If so it was a near perfect restoration.

Title: Re: 1978 Kawasaki KZ 1000 Post by: hardrockminer on March 21, 2023, 04:33:45 PM Actually yes, I overlooked that. A ‘75 dressed up like a ‘73. I do not approve. Hard to tell for sure if it's a 75. I see lots of '77 stuff....forks and front brakes, and carbs, among other things. Nothing wrong with them, just not original to the bike. Looking at that tank...the gold stripe seems off somehow. Maybe too wide at the front? Somebody has changed out the button screws for Allan style. The valve cover is either '77 or '78, so not original to the engine. It also has Allan style fasteners. I'll stop there. Wish there was a photo of the controls and dash. The 78 looks to me like it's all 78. If it's the one from Peachland it belongs to the aircraft mechanic in Vernon who restores old bikes. He has about 20 in his home and all are perfectly restored. I visited him once but I can never remember his name. Title: Re: 1978 Kawasaki KZ 1000 Post by: Steve G. on March 21, 2023, 08:01:48 PM I think I sold a bike to that guy in Vernon. 15 yrs ago.
