Title: Itchy Boots Travel Conversation
Post by: Steve G. on August 15, 2022, 07:31:15 PM

I've chatted with club members at Sunday coffee, and at work, about this young lady travelling around the world, seen on Youtube. And in particular her most recent continuation after covid delay, Ushuia to Alaska. I've been trying to guess how many days/weeks/months her 'blog' is delayed from being presented. It's the biggest question most have, as we all know the rather serious travel window one must observe to motorcycle to either Prudhoe Bay, Inuvik, or the now #1 destination of extreme motorcycle touring, Tuhtoyuktuk. And Whether she plans to achieve this goal of Alaska in the summer of 2022. It's been tricky to figure out as most of her travel has been in the permanent summer that is Central America.
Her most recent edition finds her in central Colorado, west of Denver, where she hits decent snow.

This gives me reason to guess that her blog is perhaps up to 2 months previous. What say the members?

I have not been up there myself but my brother-in-law did a bicycle ride from Portland to Washington DC and they were going through the area of the Grand Tetons mid-July and could not get through. They met two guys coming east to west who had to carry their bikes through 3 feet of snow for two days so definitely still lots in certain areas.
On a long term trip like that you would have to find places to hole up during winter up here.
I admire those people and wish I had done some more monger range trips
Frank

In the video she posted today she was aided by a fellow who mentioned that 'Moon Pass' had just opened. Looking it up, I saw that Moon Pass was opened on June 9th this year. That would suggest there is about a 10 week lag between the actual ride and when she posts the video. She's probably home right now munching on a stroopwafel.  ;D

   Perhaps you are correct.
As it is September 1st, Alaskan and Yukon towns like Prudhoe Bay, Unuvik, etc, are quickly creeping towards night time temps below freezing. Just wondering if she has made it to the northern regions this summer?

Noraly's post today, crossing into Canada at Creston. Alot of hints about the timeline, the color of the green grass, her worry about cold and rainy weather ahead in SW BC. My thoughts that she's 2 months ahead of the blog time, means she probably has already made it to Alaska this summer 2022.

Yes about 10 or so weeks behind right now, someone saw her at the border and again reports of her at the Prince George moto dealer who replaced her Rally Raid suspension spring to a heavy rated spring.

I'd need to look back at the posts on ADV rider but she crossed the border into Canada mid June, so she is already done Alaska by now I would guess.

I think you're right Dave. I understand it is a security strategy, so no lurking ADV riders try to bug her. I get it, good idea.

The last episode yesterday, dated from August 11/22, when she made shore of Arctic Ocean at Deadhorse. That makes it 3 full months heads up.

Itchy boots heads south to practice, in Montana, and rent a full on rally bike, for a rally in Mexico. For sure this series is 4-5 months ahead. and i'm guessing she's had a go at the Baja 1000 last month.
