Title: BCCMC website upgrade Post by: stanfromhell on March 17, 2022, 08:40:43 AM When will this site be upgraded so that interested people can become members and be able to post ???
Title: Re: BCCMC website upgrade Post by: fffCycles on March 17, 2022, 12:24:20 PM Hello Stan,
Our host has told me today that there is a planned update on March29 to April 1st and when that is done our site will be completely moved to the new server version. I must perform full back-ups of the site and do an SMS(?) update before then so within the next few days. I don't have a clear idea of what this entails but they are going to help me with this in the next few days. Title: Re: BCCMC website upgrade Post by: fffCycles on March 18, 2022, 03:29:07 PM It might have not been noticed but the first upgrade attempt dropped out the site for a half-hour or so this afternoon. They stepped it back and we are working on getting an intermediate step done first so hopefully that will go better.
Frank Title: Re: BCCMC website upgrade Post by: stanfromhell on March 18, 2022, 07:21:03 PM I sure am thankful I spent my life repairing and modifying things I could touch and see
Title: Re: BCCMC website upgrade Post by: fffCycles on March 19, 2022, 07:59:10 AM Yes, primarily I did that as well and must admit I am out of my depth on this one and am having to depend on the tech support folk at our hosting service although they are very responsive and polite but I am fearing after a third try I might have to find someone to re-compose our site completely in a newer software
Frank ps you will note that I took down a lot of older posts and cleaned up a lot of memory space in order to keep the size down for backups and compiling as they had asked. I also am removing “members” who have not posted in more than 120 days to make the migration a little cleaner. Update : This morning's revision has seemed to go well. Registration function is back, Search function as well. Some of my missing Administration functions appear to be restored as well. If anyone notices a problem or strange action please get back to me soonest so it can be tracked down. I am so relieved it went well this morning. Title: Re: BCCMC website upgrade Post by: Sr.X on March 21, 2022, 04:59:10 PM Thank you Frank for looking after this for us. It means a lot to anyone else like me that is rather challenged with technology.

I notice there are no posts in the 'Members asking questions or showing what they have learned not to mention bragging about what they know !' section. Could be my browser but I made a new post and it showed up (but none of the olds posts are there). ??? https://www.bcclassicmotorcycleclub.com/simplemachines/index.php?board=3.0 (https://www.bcclassicmotorcycleclub.com/simplemachines/index.php?board=3.0) PS. Thanks for your work on this. Title: Re: BCCMC website upgrade Post by: fffCycles on March 24, 2022, 06:53:07 AM Part of the update was deleting old posts more than 60 days old so a lot are gone now. I have the backup from before the upgrade and could put something up again if there is one people want but otherwise we can start over again
Title: Re: BCCMC website upgrade Post by: Runningdog on March 26, 2022, 09:00:20 AM I, for one, feel that the fix it topic is important enough to re-populate.

Title: Re: BCCMC website upgrade Post by: fffCycles on March 27, 2022, 03:58:14 PM Right, I will look at recovering these from the back-up, when I did it I did not realise how much would disappear.

Title: Re: BCCMC website upgrade Post by: fffCycles on March 29, 2022, 05:13:09 PM That should be coming in the next upgrade around April 2nd or so. They have not told me what the new maximum size will be but i should get the notification in the next few days.
