It's that time again.
I really enjoy holding this ride/party and it is an honour to have you fine fellows along for the ride!
For those that don't know about the ride..the first year there was 12 of us, 2nd was 17 and then last year it grew into 36 motorcycles!
The date this year is the weekend of Friday July 21st and Saturday the 22nd.
I will also be holding my old school, guys, garage party! Last year I put up over a dozen guys in my house. Needless to say my wife and son take refuge at my in-laws for the evening. Even though she picked me, she's not stupid. Lol...
So the party is Thursday the 20th....I will be doing a barbecue again...no need to bring anything other than your favorite beverage....won't be fancy...just burgers and salads...
Friday I have made reservations again at The Malahat Café http://moonwaterlodge.com/restuarant....for breakfast at 8:30ish....it's 35km from my house.
From there we will head to GR via some back roads and the old island highway...a little under 400kms in total....putting us in GR 4-6pm
In GR I have made reservations once again at the pub  next to our motel...http://www.ridgeview-inn.com/
Saturday we head to Port Hardy (340kms) where I have reserved rooms once again at the beautiful http://www.pioneerinnporthardy.site/....note the signs...no cleaning fish in your rooms!
Sunday home.
I have booked 26 beds at both motels...I'm sure I can book more if need be..
So what I need now is names of who is in....I would like to put this out there....the Thursday night garage party is a guys only party...sorry but if I'm asking my wife to leave for the evening the last thing I need is to explain why women are coming to her house when she's not invited. And for the guys that can't take a weekend away without your wife...we'll see you Friday...I would prefer this to be a guys only ride...I don't hate women...I just prefer this weekend to be estrogen free....I know..I'm a dick. 8) I won't be offended if you don't want to come.
All vintages and brands are welcome on the ride. I think we had just about every brand still in business on this ride last year. :)

Trevor, let me talk to the Crab man tomorrow I know he wants to go and he is retired now.     Port Hardy will be out for me however I might come over a day early and see just what the heck goes on at your place the night before to make everyone look so crappy the following day.  Might stay at the Motel in Sidney for the night as I dont feel like waking up in your garage or in your dogs bowl in the morning.  One way or another I need a room in GR please.

Ok Trevor. I'm in and I'll be riding the 750 to your place for the Thursday night bash. Looks like I'll be hooking up with Henry at his place on Wednesday night after a great ride through the Kootenay's. Cranbrook to Kootenay Lake Ferry > Kaslo > New Denver > Needles Ferry then over to his place. Should a good primer for the great roads on the island.

Ross,  why are you not coming?     I need company on the boat.          I have a room booked in Sidney and in Gold River and need a riding mate.
I cannot keep up with Dale, Dale his other brother Dale and Allan and those buggers fall asleep at noon.     Bucko and Motolobo are having hot flashes that weekend so likely cannot ride unless they are generifically correct. 
Henry I might catch you guys on the swing down here to the ferry if you give me etas to the boat also so we can share a chowder on the way to Trevors.

Sorry John, I simply cannot do a ride with that many other bikes.  I know the company would be awesome, but travelling in a gaggle of bikes is not my thing.  I'll give it another think though, since you asked.

The first thing I tell people "this is NOT a group ride"! I tell the guys to find 4 or 5 guys you feel comfortable riding with and ride with them. This is no race. No pressure to do anything but ride your own ride. We stop for breakfast..then I say "see you in Qualicum on the beach where we will wait until everyone shows up...photo opportunity.... then we meet again at the chevron in Campbell River.... we leave for gold river once everyone is accounted for again"... we had 36 guys last year...no issues... but don't take my word for it..ask anyone that was on the ride last year. Fwiw...I hate group rides. You also have to keep in mind the amount of experience and maturity in this group...ok forget the maturity part. Lol....please chime in guys. Thanks

It was a good ride and going up to Port Hardy only Vince and I rode up by ourselves because the rest where in a hurry for some reason. :P

Like Trevor said we can all meet up at some point along the way.

Ross I will likely see you on the weekend.  Normally we have the pit stops pointed out ahead of time and the speeders wait for the KLRs and Harleys to catch up at those stops.   No one likes the pack riding as it is not comfortable at all when you want to look at the Ocean and the scenery on the coast.

I will be getting a room a couple miles from Trevors place and have left my bike there safely before overnight.     If someone wants to stay at the hotel with me in Saanich let me know and I will share the details and get an extra key.  At least we can clean up and have a shower in the morning so we dont like like Dale and Allans group last year.

Not really any smoke this far south. The sky does have a funny colour to it though. Hope we all make it through this summer. We were on 1 hour evac alert back 2003 and had to help put out a few small local fires since then that could have been disasterous if left unchecked. Fingers crossed, this is way to early in the summer to be fighting fires. Anyway, see you Wednesday. Really looking forward to getting away.

Okay just got home and read this now Henry,  I will pm my cell number.    I will have my bike with me in Port Kells all day on Thursday so easy to meet you at 200th then we can go down to Highway 17 and the ferry from there.  My timing is very flexible so if you are in the area I am on the bike and off to the ferry with you at a moments notice.  My office would be a perfect place to meet and go.  Sending you PM

PH the guy was not happy....tried to charge me more for each room.
Next year people will book their own rooms. My fault for holding out for guys like Bucko on the fence and won't give me an answer. Oh well...live and learn. ::)

If someone does still come you could always get the room with 3 beds Trevor. ;D

Hey Dave if you are indeed coming,  Henry is coming down with a couple guys and meeting at my office and we will go from there in Langley to the barge.   We are shooting for about 200 pm departure from Port Kells and my cell is 778 389 2791 if you want to text or call and try and hit the same unit to the Island.

Very little...as a matter of fact a few guys didn't even put rain gear on. Now we are having breakfast in port McNeil under a sunny blue sky! Should be a great ride home!

Home safe and sound. I love the Mill Bay ferry when the Malahat is ridiculously backed up. Great weekend of riding with much less rain than expected. Thanks for putting it on again Trevor. I think I'm going to have to learn how to drink heavily to fit in a little better though!  ;D

I just had one beer Mark, just one   ;D  Home in one piece, man am I tired.  Awesome frickin' rally as always, in fact I'd say this one was the best one yet!  Weather was really good actually. A bit of a misting here and there but I never even pulled my rain gear out of the bag, any time it started to do the west coast fog thing it all stopped soon enough. Laughed my ass off with Steven, the motel manager, that boat of his was a freakin' gong show, he was a hoot for sure. And oh ya Trevor, you are getting charged for those towels.........

All I want to know is who the hell was this guy, he was creeping me out.....

Just made it home and taking the 6.00AM ferry was great.
Took Douglas Lake Rd road home and it cut about 80km of my trip.

Thanks Trevor for putting it on again but could you do something about all that traffic ;)

Looks like fun, one day I'll go. Yeah that's a threat. Trevor does some cool stuff, he's not just a web whiner, should be more like him, oh wait, forget I said that.

Thank you very much once again Trevor for use of your Car, Food, Champagne and other goodies.   Thanks Rob for coming to pick me up and letting me ride bitch from the Hotel back to Trevors place Friday morning and sharing the cab with me at some hour of the morning/night I have not seen in 40 years. I now understand that a person can safely double someone 50 lbs larger on the back of a bike providing he does not put his feet down at stops and does not lean in the opposite direction of the sparks below.
Trevor a  super ride and what a great bunch of guys to hang out with for a couple of days every person I talked to was a pleasure to have conversation with as usual.

NZ Brian I did not get much a chance to talk to you at Trevors but thank you and your wife for the Potato Salad and giant tray of cookies of which I ate many.

Good times and 1000Js future Z1R looks like a rusted out army vehicle as it sits in the garage.  I guess a little dirt, fuel, oil and rust gives the old thing some extra patina.

Thanks everyone, more memories that I will likely forget in a week.

Found my gas mileage really sucked when we were doing some "spirited riding".  I guess I'll have to keep it below the 100 kph speed limit next time, cough, cough!   ;)

thanks trevor for hosting such a great ride.  had a blast.  i really enjoyed the mist that kept the bugs from sticking riding into gold river friday. also the island inland hiway into port hardy was what my bike has been looking for ;D  put 2300 km on the new bike. got home around 10 pm monday. riding/walking  i-5/405 by seattle around 5pm made me really appreciate the uncrowded roads on the island.  great food, people, drink, and hospitality.  looking forward to next year.  what a poster for classic bikes and people. (totally awesome, eh?) rick

Finally made it back to the Kootenay's an hour or so ago. It was a great trip and fun to meet a bunch of new faces. Definitely good when you get that many together and have no breakdowns, no crashes or even a tip over   ....at least not from our crowd. I did a total of 3,400 kms which is the second trip but was the longest I've done with the 750, amazingly that even with a bit flogging that I gave it it only used a total of 1/4 litre of oil. Great trip and hopefully things will work out for next year.

Glad you made it home ok Sandy...sure was great to have you on the trip this year!
