Being a GS'er (That's GS'er, not BS'er) I love to see photos of great old Suzukis, anytime, anywhere.  Yup, I'm a bit envious too, although I did get out several times in November before the insurance ran out.  At the moment the roads are bare and it's plus 5. Maybe next year I'll try to keep one bike insured year round.  Being on Collector plates the insurance is reasonable.  Enjoy your rides.

Got out for 130kms today. Went up the Malahat to Cowachin Bay for some French Onion Soup at Rock Cafe. Good times. The roads were dryand on the other side of the Hat it was Sunny. Went through Mill Bay too, it was amazing! December 18th. I'm glad you guys like the pics because I'm having a ball on my old girl! :) :)

Hey I went out with Mark Haight for dinner and beers Friday night and Hanna's daughter Jessica served us! she is going to UVIC. And Hanna's 750 I remeber well when I didn't have a bike years ago and was living in London with Bass (kevin blackmore) I traded my car for Steve's bike for a week. He came to London to trade back and we went out on the town he was driving my car and we hit a parked car! Oopps! lol. Where are you on the Island and what are you up to! Love to show you the bike, grab a beer. You know Mark?

Got out for 75km today I saw one temp said it was 11. not sure if it got that warm but it was pretty nice. Made it over to Rob's for a visit he was busy working in his Bike Shed! I took a pic of one of the smallest bike sheds that has produced some very nice bikes indeed! :)

I admire your dedication to getting that ride in while the weather is good. I am hoping it will get nice enough while I am off to get a ride in but it is pretty slippery up here in Barnhartvale.

Met AZR over at his house around 1 and we went out to Metchosin along the Pacific for good Potato Soup! Temp around 5 but all sunshine! By the time I got home I had put on 70km. :)

What an excellent day for a ride! You were not alone Trevor.

Mostly sunny and about 6 degrees so with chaps on, liner in the jacket and a decent set of lined gloves (thank you Santa Janice) it was a comfortable ride about town for a total of 65 kM's. The cooler the weather the better the Enfield goes, I swear.

Snowed overnight and -2, so no ride today I expect. Too bad.

Wow Frank nice pic and your bike looks great! I was supposed to go golfing this morning but just got an email from my club saying we go too much frost up at Bear Mountain and "no golf for you" today. So the roads are dry and the sun is gonna be out with a high of 5 sounds like riding weather to me! :D

My I suggest we put Trever's Suzuki in as a bike of the month???

I have golfed only 3 times since halloween. And last saturday was the 1st time at my course in two months. So I did the math and it cost $920 for that round. I'm giving up the membership!! Golf can't compete with riding! :) :)

You could get a couple project bikes for that price.

Well Trevor, it's nice to see that you have 'seen the light' as riding beats the hell out of almost everything else.  It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on.  Ride On !!!!!

Thanks guys! :D :D Here is a pic of a Moto Guzzi that pulled up to the coffee shop in cook village today. It's a 1979 1000. Anyone know this guy? It was a bit cool today but I got out for my last ride of the year today.

That is a very nice Guzzi! The bike beside it looks an awful lot like a 2004 RC51 Nicky Hayden Honda. There is a fellow who lives up the street from me with one, he's a Laverda guy and has a 1983 Laverda RGS1000 that is pristine and spectacular! Wouldn't surprise me if he hung out with a Guzzi guy!

Great to see you still getting out, I'm glad the rain came and rinsed some of the brine off of the roads! Hope to get together soon!

Got out today with Rob and his gs1000. Took back twisty roads up to Sooke for coffee. We did about 135kms temp around 7 degrees great day! Thanks for the ride Rob. :)

Got out late in the afternoon today when the roads dried up a bit. 9 degrees got some pics for a couple of riding games I'm in on other sites. Not a bad day for 45kms on January 8th I guess?! ;D

I looked at the posts from last year and Justbikes get together was August 30.

There was 6 members from the Okanagon that rode down there and it was a good time and fantastic ride.

We did over 600km in one day.

I'll go for sure,but I'm doing it in two day's, I want to take time to smell the rose's,methane and car exhaust.

Definately the roses, stay a day and stop in to Minter gardens, ;)

Rode my bike for work today and had to go visit a client in Vic Gen hospital and a Doctor I know there told me they had 4 admissions in a row to emerg. that were motorcyclists! Be careful out there!

It was sunny and plus 4. So plan was to give old Suzi a bath and then go for a ride. Everything was fine until A freak snow thing happened and the temp dopped tp -1. :D

I was going to mention that you should clean it, I think I saw ONE speck of grime on the rear sprocket.   That thing is MINT.

Haha, thanks... I was able to ride my bike everyday for work this week, about 200 or so kms all together. Got some grime on it and I am not sure what they put on the roads but it looks like some kind of liquid salt, it shows up as wet lines on the road. I'm sure that can't be good for the bike? :)

Hi Trevor, I've been watching the city trucks dump that brine concoction on the roads for the past several weeks. A beautiful sunny day and you're riding on wet salty roads! Yesterday when I rode to work it was -3C and they had salt dumped all the way up Foul Bay Rd. Can't wait for a good dump of rain to rinse that crap away!

That stuff is quite slippery when it is first put down, be careful.. can break loose or lock up wheel easily.. Probably corrosive, but not as bad as salt.
 Hate to say it but unless you wash your bike almost daily, the salt will probably hurt it...

That weird contraption is Phillip Funnells latest toy. He was a BMW dealer way back in the 70's on the coast and was famous for taking long trips, then writing about them.  Any one who was on the coast back then is very familiar with PHILLIP. I think he's now in his late 80's or so, and obviously still going strong.  When he's on long trips, he actually sleeps in that thing.

Wow 9 degrees and sunny in Victoria today. Went home at lunch and traded the cage for the bike. Put on 60km on JANUARY 23RD!!

Trevor, you should park that bike so you and get the other one on the road for big Dan to ride in the summer, yes I said BIG Dan, rumor has it you might have to get him a fat boy to carry that gut. How come you only put 60 km on that bike every time you have it out. ha ha,

I know you might be surprised but I got out yesterday too. :D Just waiting for Rob to show up at my house and we are gonna go for a little ride. It is SUNNY and supposed to get up to 8 or 9! Tomorrow same.

 It was 6 here today.. just about laid a strip...cuz I was so happy... >:D

Came home at lunch and rode my bike to do my work rounds. One temp. I saw said it was 11 degrees! And SUNNY TOO!! Put on 85kms today. Feb 1st ;D Even played the ride game today.

Me and a couple of guys went up to Cowichan to meet new member Rob and his 850 Yamaha triple. Very nice bike Rob and welcome to the club.  We did about 140km today then Glenn and I went and paid a visit to Rob back in Victoria where he did an adjustment on my carbs. Thanks Rob the bike is running great! This is a pic of Glenn's awesome Kawa 1400, very nice! I like the windscreen that goes up and down. ;D

Fun ride today Trev! Great to meet Rob and his Yammie. Those fish taco's at the Rock Cod Cafe are worth another visit as well! :P

Put on another 110kms today. That puts me at around 5200kms since buying the bike Sept 12. 9 degrees and sunny again. This is out at the Sidney Pier and fish market.

Well Trevor, we have been having almost the same weather in Woodstock as you are having on the Island. I had my KLR out on Saturday and again today. I put close to 100 clicks on it today, sorry no picture's, left town and went to Thamesford and through Ingersoll  and Sweaburg then to good old Innerkip and made a trip down wheelie road back in and around Woodstock.Not that warm on the highway, left the leathers at home and wore the tough ducks for some warmth, but it sure feels nice to have the bike out in February.No snow on the ground, but they say we might get some later this week.

Oh Beaver, you are bringing back memories!! Good old Wheelie road. What was it... Thursday nights that we would go out there? When I was growing up I couldn't wait to get my license so I could go to Wheelie road. Quater mile races. Now that was fun! I heard about the weather back there I talked to my mom today in Ingersoll and she said it was nice. Glad you are getting out. what a winter! :D

I remember the time the great Waldo did a 1/4 mile burnout on Wheelie Rd. - 1/4 mile down, 1/4 mile back -  on his Kawai 1k.  Alcohol may have been involved - not really sure as alcohol was involved.

Yes I remember me and Buffalo Bob standing down at the finish line on wheelie road and watching Jeff Hart fly by us on his back wheel giving us the big wave. One of my memories of Waldo is when he had Bob Crabb sitting on his shoulders riding his Z1R past Smith's Sunoco. A lot of good times started at the cow back when. Have a good one.

Went to the Canuck/Leaf game Saturday. It was my boy's 1st NHL game, I wore my Leaf jersey and he wore his Canucks jersey. Canucks win 6-2 ouch!! At least my boys team won.
Went to modern Motorcycle on Commercial and bought some Progressive rear shocks. Good deal and they will bus them over to the Island. Boy you guys get a lot of rain over there on that mainland!!! Got back sunday late afternoon and went for a little clear my head ride.
Anyone else riding? Or are we just talking about cars now? ;)

Don't forget to read the spark plugs a few times after the installation. Often a change of pipes will cause a lean condition and you don't want to damage that pretty bike unnecessarily. You may need to rejet the carbs. Keep an eye for the plug colour till your sure it is okay.

Yeah thanks Bear, we adjusted the carbs and I have noticed no "flat" spots riding it. The original owner put in a K&N filter and possiably did the jets then? I am going to send him an email. But yes I am monitering the plugs closely.

Well my bike now has the new V&H pipe and the stage 1 jet kit and new progressive rear shocks! It is running great. Way fast! :D :D

Trevor, I'd spray the outsides of the stock pipes with WD-40. Then put on the nozzle and spray the insides, rotating the pipe as you spray. The carrier in the WD-40 will eventually evaporate, but leave the good corrosion protection behind. Then if you ever put the pipes back on, all residue will simply burn off.  And if it were me I'd want to hang the pipes up, muffler on the bottom so that if any moisture does collect inside it will drip out.

I spray my entire bike "except tires, brake rotors" with WD-40 if I shed store it over the winter. Keeps moisture from gathering on all the places you don't want it too.

Fellow member Glenn and I met at my house at 11 this morning with plans to go to Sooke for lunch but on the way it started to rain and it looked pretty dark towards Sooke. So we turned around, went into Victoria to the harbour and had a fish lunch at Red Fish-Blue Fish my first time and it was awesome. Did a little tour around the ocean. I really wish it would warm up though! ::)

Yes Trevor, red fish blue fish, I was out there last spring and it is a very good fish & chip shop. You are missing some very nice weather in Woodstock. Highs of 22 on Saturday, I took a bike ride to grand bend and then out to Hanna's. I put 275 km. on the KLR. lots of bikes out all week-end and the same weather next week also. I hope it lasts till late October. the Suzuki looks good with the new pipe, and that is a good looking Kawasaki  your friend has.

Grand Bend?????    My first summer job was there, at the games arcade down by the beach....likely a Walmart, now, as that was in 1968 or 9......

Well I didnt get out for a long ride yesterday but I did finally get my Norton home Saturday and after couple hours of going thru carbs,new fuel,unpluging the petcocks and new plugs,she fired up on the first kick.terrorized the neighbourhood for a while-nothing sounds quite like a Norton! unfortunately nothing leaks like a Norton either. ::)

Very happy that it is staying lighter out longer now. Got out after dinner to get rid of some cobwebs. Great night for a ride and a nice sunset around the Pacific. Looks like the weather might start turning for the better. Supposed to be 11 and sunny this weekend and a few of us are planning a nice long ride up Island.

That arcade is long gone - I think it burnt down when I was in high school or shortly there after (mid to late 70's).  I remember there was a big controversy a few years later when some dude showed up with a deed and claimed he owned the entire beach.  As I recall, everybody though he was a nut job or con artists but eventually he turned out to be right.  Not sure how the whole deal was settled but know the last time I was there - which was probably more than 10 years ago now, there were condos on the beach where that old arcade used to be.

Ahhh, the Bend, I don't think I was ever there sober (until the last time).  Remember the Pinery?  Every time I ever tired to camp there I got kicked out - never spent a full night in the park!  Good thing I'm a lot more sensible now  ;D

Ahh the Pinery, got poison ivy there! That was brutal! Me, Ryan Ludington, Dave Lamarche, Mark Haight, Roger Labrash and Scott Thompson. Drunker than skunks. By the way those condos was that guys settlement for letting go of his rights to the beach!

Me and Rob got out today for a little ride and some lunch too! :)

Ah, yes, the Pinery.....one time when we (as a family) were camping there, me, my brother (Hawkeye), two sisters, and cousin Peggy walked from the Bend along the beach to the Pinery....I think it took days.....or hours, or something like that.  According to Google Earth, about 8 klicks....

I was planning to get a good ride in today but some of that Vancouver weather blew in to Woodstock today, rain rain and more rain.

Me, Rob and Glenn met at 11am and went up Island for a 300km ride. Had lunch at the Genoa Bay Cafe. Nice spot and great food. What a day!I tell you I had to push the old 750 pretty hard to keep up to these boys in the twisties! Thanks guys that was a lot of fun today. Greg and Sheldon hope you can make it next time.

I have to put the back wheel back on tomorrow "new rubber is always a treat!" and swap out the bulbs in the speedo and tach. Give the battery a charge and time to fire the old girl up for another year. Hopefully insurance this week, but have to get some new knives for work, and a good set of chef's knives are never cheap. :o

A buddy had a Hugger orange 69 with black Rally stripes, 350hp/327 4spd, low gears, drum brakes and no sway bars, freakin exciting ride ALL the way around!!

Glad I got out in the Roadrunner on Saturday and the Kawi on Sunday. Back to rain today of course.

Beautiful, factory standard Kawasaki, thanks for the pics. Love those painted steels on your RoadRunner as well. Spring's finally coming on!

I LOVE the old bike, but sadly i"m starting to get bored with it.  I'll never part with it, but next year I'm going to start the hunt for another bike I've been wanting to own for a while, a "95-'96 GPz 1100. There was a guy back home that had one for sale a few years back, mint shape. Showed up at his door with the cash, didn't even try to haggle the price down. He got all choked up, apologized and decided he couldn't sell it. I totally got how he felt about that bike, so I wasn't upset in the least.

Be a hard bike to track down, but that's the fun of it all.

Got out for a ride today over towards Salmon Arm.  No rain, just a bit windy in some places.  Met friends from Vernon for lunch at the Tappen Esso - Goldpanner Cafe.  Good food if you're in that area.  Note the Shadows on the ground......that's from the SUN, believe it or not.

Just a little 500. There is a 750 in the garage though.

Went out today for a quick 100k ride before the start of the Masters final round. By the way if Phil couldn't win I was happy to see Bubba get his first major and with a name like Bubba and he is not just turning left is pretty cool! ;D This was taken around noon down at Clover point, the pacific with the Olympic mountains in the background.

New tires look good. The extra higher profile on the rear looks a lot better than the last tire Trevor. Steering must be a bit quicker too eh.

The last photo you posted is by the Glo Europub & Grill, across the Selkirk Waterway from Schnitzer Steel Pacific, a metal recycler. We supply barges for them to move their product to Tacoma Washington. A tight place to move a 4000 tonne barge about in! :o

Was tough to watch the Master's playoff knowing that someone had to lose. I feel good for Bubba though, he's a quirky, weird kinda guy, very different from the usual golf club clone. :)

I can look out my window and see that barge full of cars!

Glenn and I met over at Sheldon's house for a little ride. Took the scenic route around Dallas Rd. through Uplands (where all the rich people live >:() then stopped at Gyro beach for these pics. Then went to the top of Mt. Doug. Great meeting you Sheldon, I'm sure today is the start of a lot of good times on the bikes. I would say "let the good times roll" but no Hondas. :)

REALLY enjoyed myself guys. Looking forward to more outings.

I took the bike out for a good rip Trevor after we went our separate ways. Bike was hanging up at 8k when I came onto it and a bit hesitant. I didn't put stabilizer in the gas before I drained the carbs like I always do, so a bit must have got trapped in the jets and was gumming up. After a hard run she's all good now.

I got off work at 3, met Greg out his way. He took me on some really nice, twisty roads that weren't all beat to poop!

We then went to My Chosen Cafe for a bite to eat.

Went down the canyon from Merritt to Boston Bar and back, first warm Saturday in the interior. LOTS of bikes out.

Sorry but it's the first time I've had the car out this year.............I feel guilty not taking the bike out today but I'll make up for it.

Put the car away and got the Kawi out for a short ride.

Rob, Richard and I went up to Cow Bay and over to Duncan took all the twisties and went kinda fast too! ;D

 I found one (754)with 35, 000 klicks for 400ish... dont have to wash it if it rains, just ride the helloutit..for  2 years it ran fine, now its noisy... time to drag out another..

So is my Gpz. If I get 40MPG I'm pretty happy. Same engine in a ZR-7S and it gets 48-55mpg.

Think it's the GPz having the head ported and polished that makes it a gas pig.

I get about 46mpg out of my Kz750,it's all stock but the 1000 probably gets 25. Motor's not stock and the 36mm flat slides don't help with the mileage!

Sunday night I'm sitting around the house thinking about my buddy Glenn who was on his way back from Nevada on his Kawa Concourse. I started to think, if I took the Ferry to Port Angeles Monday morning I could ride down 101s and meet him in Kelso Wa and we could ride back up the coast and back to Victoria. My wife gave the ok I texted my work said I needed a couple of personal days and left in the morning. 800kms later I was back home Wed. morning and working in the afternoon. Here are some pics... Oh and the Suzy didn't miss a beat and we did some fast runnin!!

Very nice, that is what riding is about. Get an inclination, throw the bags on the bike and go. Love it.

My wife and I rode over to the Island Saturday to visit friends in Parksville,my buddy had a lead on a BSA and a Triumph Daytona for sale but after talking bikes for a while the guy decided not to sell, no time for another project anyway I guess, beautiful day for a ride,got to do some visiting and we did get to see the Travelocity Gnome in a van at the end of the row of bikes. Not a boring day!

That's highway 66 from Calgary to where the pavement ends, then dirt to hwy 68.  Hwy 40 through K-country then the back road into Canmore.  And that was also the only sunny day we had this week... it's raining now...

Love those sculls (sarcasm) That's probably going to cost him,my neighbor bent his front fender on his Harley and an unpainted replacement is $500.00. My comment to him was, do you know how many project bikes I've bought for less that that?
 When I was on the coast there was a couple of places that cornered the market on parts for two brands, one was Fred Deeley (Harley) and the other was the British Motorcycle shop on Fraser st.(Triumph)  I'll never forget how high their prices were because they had no competition.

 IK got a Rocket 3 one sitting here, bet its a lot higher than that, so is Beemer... If you want to look at non OEM vintage fenders for HD they will be a lot cheaper than 500..

 You brought it up, and I got the impression that you are slamming a certain brand.
 The point I am making, is : OEM fenders, made of steel are not Cheap.. Most OEM parts are not cheap.. Plastic fenders however, can be produced cheaper than a lot of steel ones.

Ok here are some pics of Glenn, Rob and my ride today...we did the Renfrew loop today (no issues) Great, fun and very FAST ride today! I went the fastest I have ever been on my 750 today. And still had a hard time keeping up! ;D Thanks to Glenn and Rob, I really enjoy riding with you two! ;D

That was a really fun 'spirited' ride! Great that Rob got his suspension tuned up for his ride in July as well. I guess a Tarozzi fork brace is in your future? Yeah, the only casualty on the ride was that poor Flicker that I clobbered, still feel bad about that. :( At least we didn't have any close encounters of the bambi kind! ;) It was a fun ride with a ton of laughs, can't wait for the next one! ;D

   ...out for the local Fathers Day poker run ride today and took a couple of pictures with my cell phone. One of a sweet early 80's Yamabobber and one of a Ariel square four. I "mailed" them to myself and was hopin to put them up here however they are both about 25 too big of whatever the measure is to be allowed on. Is there a way around that ?

   If you've been reading any of the posts with me in them lately then you must be aware of the varied and/or implied lack of intelligence and couth associated with riders that ride the brand of bike that I do, thus conforming to the stereotype I would be greatly obliged for any assistance with this for these and future photo's. I am a motorcycle enthusiast and totally dig a bike with Classic lines. Art first, people second. A good picture deserves to be shared dang it...   ...nice Squariel too..

hey whosdatguy. how do you like the riding position on tht 750F. i need to change mine as it was unbearable buy the end of my ride to dreamcycle and home. thanks ken.

I dont find it too bad, put on over 400km on Saturday and I was fine, dont know if I'd cross Canada on it though. With the new seat being 2" lower and the clip ons it is a reach and might be pretty hard on the back for some. I'm 5' 11", any taller and it would feel like your knees are up by your ears. ;D All that being said, I'm able to ride it all day, in the process of doing up some rear sets which will help.

I went for blast down to Sp.Bridge this morning on the Hybrid RD/RZ. First time out on it this year, makes me remember why two strokes are so fun. And this things got some brake too.

Don't know if this is what Honda had in mind or not for the new NC700 storage???

Took the tracker bike out for a quick zip down the valley tonight. I have almost 200km's on it and nothing has shook off yet!! Pulls pretty strong with the 750cc kit and is fun as hell. I may have to throw some stiffer clutch spring though, seems right on the edge of slipping.

   Went out for a ride with Adam from "Flat Black Innovations". He rides a steed with a bottom end from the 40's and a top end from the 60's.

That's pretty cool, actually..the quintessential motorcycle.......if that's what yer after, it's good that components will match (with some massaging, I'd imagine) from bikes 20 years apart...let's see if I can fit a 850 barrel on a CB400.....

   ....yah weird huh ? pretty much everything pre 84 just fits..    ...after that they quit makin "hemi's", and Elvis left the stadium for me my fast canine friend.

I went for a ride on saturday starting in Vernon and going east on highway 6 to Edgewood (on Arrow Lake). Then south on forestry roads to Grand Forks and came back on highway 33, stopping at Rock Creek for the best hamburger I've had in a long time. There were 9 riders riding : the BMW's were: R100RT,K75,R800GS,R1200GS,R100, a couple of V'Stroms, and my KLR. A little dusty on the 72km of forestry road but other than that, it was a 9 out of 10 day for me.

my mistake....gonna try again...

Little bit of a last minute decision to put a temporary plate on the new toy I just bought a couple weeks ago.  My wife and I decided we'd do the bed and breakfast thing heading into the Kootenays.

Headed into the Nakusp area for the first night (sorry Ken that we couldn't say hi).  Stayed at a local B & B in Nakusp and got a relatively early start the following day and headed south on HWY 6 towards New Denver.  Took a left at New Denver and went over to Kaslo and then followed HWY 31 into Nelson.  Had a late lunch/early dinner in Nelson then headed towards Castlegar, Christina Lake and took in another B & B in Grand Forks Friday night.  Final leg of the run was finished off today when we had another "later in the morning start" in Grand Forks and headed for Osoyoos and finally home to West Kelowna by mid afternoon.
This was a 3 day trip starting late Thursday morning, leading into Friday and finishing off Saturday afternoon.  We were in no rush to get anywhere at any time and chose to travel at the pace we wanted to at the time.
Absolutely stunning scenery and the best motorcycling roads I've ever traveled on.  I still can't get over the road between New Denver and Kaslo.........unbelievable!!

The new bike performed flawlessly and is more accommodating for two up traveling.  Pic below was taken on the road between New Denver and Kaslo.  Road and scenery in the picture mirrors what our experience looked like throughout our trip.

Not a classic quite yet as the bike is a 2002.  Although one could argue that since Kawasaki didn't make any significant change to the Concours since its inception back in 1986 it could be labeled as one.

Yes you're right, New Denver to Kaslo is phenomenal, did it last Monday, I took the ferry over to 3A instead of going to Nelson.

Went out after work for a quick spint o Sidney to my favorite book store to pick up this months Practical Sportbike. This was taken a couple of kms from my house over looking the Pacific. First ride since Sunday!! Stupid collector plates!!! ;)

Trevor, you're work schedule obviously dictates that you only get evening rides.....almost every photo you post has that moody, end of day/end of trail feeling.... ;)

Well now that I can't ride the bike for work it's only after work now. I have been working a little later than I normally would, but that is gonna stop soon. I also like the pics taken at sunset.

Thanks, I bought that thing in June as a pile of parts, it's also my first motorcycle.

We rode from Panguitch Utah to Zion National Park today. Sunny and a balmy 22 - 27 degree's! ;D

Hi guys, here's an update to our trip. After leaving beautiful southern Utah we headed for Arizona. We stayed at Homolovi State Park and had not one, but two close encounters with rattlesnakes! Us Island boys just don't do rattlesnakes! :P Here is a few photo's of where we were, (and are).

Yes, Winslow has embraced the iconic Eagles tune and has exploited it to the n'th degree! Its corny as hell but kind of fun too! People are always at the 'corner' taking pictures.

After leaving Winslow we went to Meteor Crater, about 10 miles west of town. Here a meteor crashed to the Earth 50,000 years ago leaving a mile across crater. Worth a visit. We then turned off the Interstate at Seligman to experience the famous Route 66. It was a little depressing to me to see miles of dilapidated old fuel stations and 'Motor Inns' lining the historic route. As we drove along I couldn't help but think of John Steinbeck driving along the same road as he was researching what became "The Grapes of Wrath".

We are now in a small town at the edge of Death Valley, tomorrow we load the water into the saddlebags and head off to ride the length of the infamous desert. I hear the rain has started back home. I'm glad to be extending my summer a little while longer. Here is a photo we took a few hours ago.

Went for a ride through Death Valley today. Oddly enough, it was quite warm! It was 29C - 30C, warm for me but not so much for Death Valley, as we all know, it can get up to around 53C - 55C there!

YES...... I frequently ride my two collector status Suzukis.  A 1980 GS-1000G, and my 1983 GS-750"T".  I wait until the end of the season (when my insurance runs out) and then total my mileage.  Most years I average around 12,000 kms plus. I'm still good for a few more weeks.  One photo was my 750 and Zoomer's Square Four a few weeks back.

Only put insurance on my newest bike this year, 1987 H-D FXR. Didn't ride it often or far but enjoyed every mile I managed to ride. Took some photos the first ride out but for some reason my camera didn't want to give them up and they disappeared into the digital wasteland. Not too many places around here to ride that I haven't been to many times and getting to any other part of the province takes longer than my short time off work. Love looking at all the photos of places I haven't seen yet, gives me more future places to go.

Oh, yeah, a ride through the Kootenays is definately on the calendar......I did not ride as much this season as I usually do, just that one trip to Chilliwack, and a couple of day cruises around the Okanagan, although I did use the 850 (and the 400 once or twice) to get into town for my hobby job almost every Sunday, and to meet for running with the other gang twice a week, or coffee meets not often enough. 

I could have ridden more during the week, when I have more spare time, but, being self-employed/semi-retired :P in a softish economy, I pretty much have to stay fairly close to my usual areas in case of phone calls to go look at something.   Busy, but not busy...that's my life...

I have no choice..all I own are classic motorcycles, to the tune of 20000km last year. :)

That gixxer looks so good. Brings back some great memories and one of the 2 scariest HS wobbles I have ever seen with my ex girlfriend backing off the throttle at about 240 while I watched from behind. I didn't know I could hold my breath that long.

Bike's insured until the end of February... although with snow and gravel here now i'm sure the trips will be few and far between.

Today I went out and cleaned/organized my garage. It was needed. Got to make some room. The weather here was cloudy with some sunshine around 10 degrees. I figured I might not get to ride for a bit, met my wife at a coffee shop, so I went out on my 750 for a little spin around 70kms. We have some nice back roads. I was a bit cold...I better toughen up as winter is coming and I got 3 bikes to ride. I really do like riding my old GS
This was taken about 10 min from my house over looking the Pacific.

Add a wind screen, some heated grips and an electric jacket liner and you'll be good unless the roads are icy.  Heated gear can easily add a couple months of comfortable riding each year.

Hey Glenn, just so you know...you suck. Great pictures, looks like you guys are getting lots of riding time in. How the trailer in the heat? It's nice back here, long johns, wool socks and best of all Toques.

Got out on the dual sport for a ride to Spence's Bridge today, the afternoon turned out very nicely, more like the middle of September. I saw my buddy Rick and took a pic of his Triumph triple, he gave me some new period grips for my RD350 restoration which was cool.

Finally got out for a good ride on my new bike today..

Gotta love the old Triumphs.Does he keep the seat open like that cause he likes to ride side saddle?? >:D

did you take your time getting there Trevor or did you try for a ticket, I remember when fat Mike had the red and white one, a bunch of us went to Pocono to a bike road race and he did not look to comfortable on his, a think he was a little to big for that style of a bike. What did you do with the first bike you got for a project bike before the 1150.

Yeah Beav, I did practice some restraint on the ride. Not sure about my 1150. Still don't have it running perfectly so hard to tell if I'm really gonna like it. It is kind of a tank for sure. Maybe I will sell it in the spring. As for the gsxr, at first I thought there is no way I'm gonna be able to ride this without back injury :o. But now that I have gotten comfortable and relaxed on it it 's not bad at all. As for the "first" project bike the 82 gs750e, it has become a parts bike to my 80 gs750. Already used the stator off it. So it was a good purchase at a hundred buks! By the way Danny wants to know if I'm trying to compete with him in the bike department. ;D

Ricks Trident is nice! His restorations are top notch, super anal guy. Fresh zinc on fasteners, re-chroming, super detail and his paintwork is flawless. He specializes in pin striping and can do straighter lines freehand than i could do with a ruler... Triumph's are his deal and he knows them inside and out.

I stopped raining, the sun peeked out from the clouds a few times and the temp got up to 14 degrees so I played hooky and rode over  Sumas mountain.
The old girl runs better every time I take her out an put a few more miles on the rebuild.

You've earned an official "you suck" from those of us having to keep the shop doors open today. >:(

Managed to get out on the Mega Scoot Monday.  Classic old Suzukis tucked away for the winter.  Lovely day with up to
plus 17 C. Met Vernon friends for lunch in Sorrento.  Not many good riding days left judging by today's light rain and Plus 7 C.

Got out yesterday in what was a beautiful sunny high of 16 (63-64) degree day!

December 4,  +12, put on 150km.

Got out on DEC 2 nd, before insurance ran out.  Lovely sunny day and plus 10.  Both classic Suzukis tucked away for the winter, so I rode the Super Scoot.  Ran up a bit over 100 kms.  Total for the season among the 3 machine, 14K.  A pretty good riding year.

Got out after work yesterday. 8 degrees and partly sunny! Took a pic of my bike in front of the Griswald's.  ;D Anyone else got some cool xmas displays with their bike?

Trevor.........I really like what you've done to your GSXR.  I liked the shade of blue to start with but the decal set you installed really adds the finishing touch.  Well done.
As I mentioned elsewhere on the forums, seeing your GSXR was/is enough of an incentive to make me get going once again on the 93 Katana 750 project I have in my basement.

 Ten of us met for coffee at Porters in Langley this morning. Kiwi Roy and Galactica rode thru  snow and rain for 35 minutes to get there from New Westminster (hardy bikers those two) while Twisted Twin and I shivered and whined our way there from a few blocks away. Lots of lively conversation about a huge variety of subjects kept us entertained and a couple  of the other patrons slighty annoyed.....Perfect in every way!

It's definately more suited to forest service roads than trails but I didn't get it stuck or drop it. I did find a couple trees that the bars and I fit between but the bags didn't.

I have not even started this bike in two months, bad bad owner! So thought I would go put air in the tires and fill the tank. Two hours and 100kms later!! Lol...Bike not running perfect but still a lot fun. Still got some issues around 6000rpm.  Dry roads for the most part and 8 or 9 degrees. Not bad for December 23rd. :)

Went out for my first day of riding a dirtbike in 30 years today. A buddy took me out the Victoria Motorcycle Club, which is mostly a "trials" riding club, not the best place to be on a 400 dirtbike. It was raining and very slippery, rocks, tree roots and tight paths through the forest. I rode around the parking lot first to get a feel for the bike then went up to the top to a look out point with 5 or 6 guys on their funny little bikes. Boy can they go over some crazy terrain. Impressive for sure! I put the bike down only once but had plenty of close calls. I am so sore right now! Gonna go ride at a more appropriate place next weekend with my boy.

hey Trevor, it looks like you and I have the same problem with the 400 and 450 Yamaha, our ass is to close to the ground, or maybe the seat is to high, the bikes are great when moving, but it is a bit tough when stopped. What I did to mine and you should think about doing is modify the skid plate side piece that protects the water pump. If you fall over and hit a rock there is not enough protection, and the water pump will get cracked, The pump has been changed on mine by the previous owner. When I was on the Island at Christmas, my son took me out to Sooke for some trail riding, they have a lot of logging roads to ride.

Yep Beav, you are right about the seat hieght.  :o And funny you say that about the water pump. The po has had it rebuilt and I think I might still have a slight leak. Gonna get a new one and take your good advice around modifing the skid plate for more protection. We plan to go up to Sooke next weekend to Boyd's pit, lots of trails and looging roads, should be more fun for my bike. Hey by the way, Danny and his wife Kathy are planning on comming out to my place around July 21st for two weeks. They are gonna use one of my bikes to do some exploring.

Trevor, if you decide to change your water pump, take a look at a boyesen pump, they push more water through as they have a bigger propeller which has makes a lot less air bubbles, and I was told because there is no fan on those bikes it is a good investment. If you go to a different skid plate, Devol makes a good one that protects the sides a lot better. I might look into one of them, as they cover more than the modification I did to mine. Big Dan does not like to fly so what are they going to do, drive out. He should bring Hanna with him. That gravel pit in Sooke is where we went riding.

LOL..not only does Big Dan not like to fly but he has never been on a plane before! so I'm honoured that his first flight at 57 years of age is coming out here! I will look into that pump. Thanks again. Did you like riding at that pit?

Yesterday we did the Port Renfrew loop...that's right Chris and Henry, and we did with the wives riding pilon! Great day and the roads were in great shape too!!
And then today played in the dirt up on the Malahat. Stopped in Mill Bay for some beef stew. Cagers sure look at you funny when you pull up on a dirt bike. ;D
And a nice view of the Ocean, and the trail we take down following the power lines.

Got out LAST Tuesday, over to Falkland for lunch with friends from Vernon.  Rode the GS-750"T".  Today I did a run over to the Sorrento Bike Museum on the GS-1000G.  No photos my Digital Camera bit the dust.  CURSES !

   ...snapped, applied an insurance sticker, and went out for a short ride to my favorite watering hole with Aaron!

The north end of 272 in Langley is closed, I folded the mirrors in and squeezed around the gate at the bottom. Lots of steep, gravelly switchbacks later, I popped out at the top. Judging by the condition of the road, it's been closed for 20 years or more:

HaHaHa, you funny! That is just hilarious. If it just stopped there it might be believable but there are a few other guys here who have a serious motorcycle habit, perhaps not as bad as me admittedly and one or two worse, and there is always another bike that you just have to get. Don't get started, you may grow to like it too much.

Rob and Glenn and I went up Island for a little scoot today. This little bakery/coffee shop gives a 10% discount to bikers! ;D

Galactica, Kiwi-Canuck and I went for a ride to Mount Baker today.

We started out having coffee with Stanfromhell, Hobbs and Kiwi-Roy but they chickened out muttering something about spending time with family, yardwork, not being allowed to cross the border or some such nonsense.

The crossing was uneventful save for the confiscation of some contraband produce from a New-Zealander.

For me it was 300 kms door to door in New Westminster.  It was a great ride with great companions.  Fantastic weather and nice twisty roads.  We got out early enough to enjoy it with very little traffic.  A good time was had by all.

Good pictures and looks like was a good time.   June and I were out misbehaving last night and didn't get rolling until 0900 today.   Ran down the Chucanut to La Conner for some grub at the harbor then did the Sedro Wooley return through Sumas and Mission.  Got some pics on the cell phone and will try and convert them to the website tomorrow. More important things first as I need to run back out to the garage because the Norton seems to want to mark her territory tonight.  You can never get lost on a Norton can you?

Yup, hellofajob guy, looks the real deal, fits into the country too...nice.

Went out again on the Concours today.  Up Westside road and took the highway back to West Kelowna.  Picture taken on south side of Vernon overlooking Kalamalka Lake with the town of Coldstream in the center back ground and the city of Vernon to the left.  Perfect weather.........not too cold and not to hot.  I'm starting to feel more comfortable on this heavy sport tourer.
Connie performed very well and was rewarded with a wash down after the ride.

Thought I would post some pics of Rob (AZR) trip to the States on Friday coming home Saturday night.
I went over to vancouver Thursday morning to take care of some business, stayed over night. Checked into my hotel then went to move my bike and no startee!! Bump start. It's a long story.
Anyway Friday morning Rob took the ferry over to meet meet me. We took off for Hope BC, where we got health insurance for our trip States side. $16.00 for three day coverage. Good deal!
Gotta love taking a bike on the ferry...boat is never full and you are first in line!

We covered about 1050kms from Friday morning until we got the 7pm ferry Saturday back to Victoria. We stayed Saturday night in Chelan WA. what a beautiful liitle town on a lake. Then headed for Winthrop Wa. and up through Cascade mountains. What a great trip!!

Yeah we got lucky..no rain. We got rained on for about an hour and half on and off before crossing back into Canada. Great weather really. :)

Canucklehead and I made it out on the rd's today. Tried out the new crank and found a kitten wandering the ditch.....

Managed to find a couple hours to ride with a buddy from work this morning...great day for a short ride, except for a black bear that ran out in front of me :o  he had a white bag of garbage in his mouth and was running like hell,left a flat spot on the back tire,good thing I was riding the bike with real brakes,the old Kawi brakes wouldn't stopped me in time.

Did a ride up the Yellowhead to Barrier.  Amazing amount of traffic having to divert north from Kamloops due to the wash outs on the Trans Canada east of Golden.  Lovely day with NO rain, at least not so far.  Came home via the McClure ferry and the Westsyde road.  10 km section of fresh new pavement.  Very Swoopy - YEE HAW !!!

   ...rode the New Denver to Kaslo ride today to release some pent up rage and enjoy the scenery.

  Stopped at Ron's at Silverton on account of he was outside when I rode by ( the rest of the group kept goin, and I never found them.. ). Talked Bonneville for a couple of hours and took a couple of pictures of what this year is shapin up to be..

AAaaahhhh........the New Demver to Kaslo stretch of road.  Rode it for the first time early last fall, Tired.  Just a perfectly exquisite motorcycling road. 

Star Deceiver, you're obviously not evac'd.....looks like quite a mess in Cowtown....our (Hawk and I) niece and husband are out (Inglewood) for now....Crescent Heights is likely packed with look-see-ers...

That's where I stopped taking pics because shortly after I ran through three big rainstorms on my way to Pemberton. I was wet when I rolled into town so I got a room at a hotel rather than camp.

The worst part of the whole trip was the run from Horseshoe Bay to Langley.

Quick spin from West Kelowna to Hampton campground in Manning Park resulted in a very enjoyable ride yesterday.  Surprisingly ........ not as much traffic as I expected which is just fine by me.  Rode from West Kelowna to Penticton and hung a right onto Green Mountain Rd, then on to Keremeos and Princeton.  Carried on from Princeton into Manning Park and had the opportunity to relax a couple of hours before the return trip home.
On the way back, hooked up to Hwy 5A from Princeton and headed north to eventually connect with the Coquihalla Hwy and back to West Kelowna.
All in all, put on about 450 kms.  Lots of bikes out today with most returning the friendly motorcyclist wave.
Didn't take the time to take many pics.......I was too busy riding.  
Here is the single pic taken - a rest area about 30 kms or so south of the Hwy 5A/Coquilhalla intersection.  Was a great spot to stop and appreciate what we have here in BC.

As long as the ride was not crappy then who cares about the pic quality! Those are a couple of nice routes you chose, I really like the Coq to Princeton route and the last time I did it on my Ducati which just loved the twisties along there. Glad you enjoyed your day Claudio.

Oh yeahhhh.........the ride was very enjoyable indeed, Frank.  Wasn't too hot, traffic was quite light, and the bike ran really well as icing on the cake.  All was good!
Last time I had ridden the Princeton to Coquihalla stretch ........or Hwy 5A.........was probably in 1992/93.  It was on the Ducati Pantah I have.
That road was built with Ducatistas in mind. ;)

Kaw74, Evil-Kawood, and I met last sunday to see the new summer cabin, that evil wants to buy. It's on Green Mountain Rd.

That is a really cute place he's got there. A little dusting and a tarp on the roof and you are set.

Looks like the walls have settled a bit on one side,  might have to think about a home inspection for that place.

Bet you had a good ride though.

    ..it's a bit of a fixer upper, and it strangely resembles the addition on my trailer at this very moment.

 
Sorta hard to tell by the pictures but it appears to be missing a window,  make sure you get an inspection and put that in one of the subjects of the sale.

Just a bit of advise from someone that knows nothin and charges about the same for my service.

I have a limited knowledge of these machines and what you saw is not a "rocket penis" as I have yet to see one of them wearing a condom.
To correct you and your G/F what you saw in that picture is in fact "the big dicklar" and when entered into the orifice of a large concrete structure and tickled can release immense amounts of fluids as well as tremendous electronic stimulation.



I think FFF Frank understands dicklars a bit better than I and can probably shed some more light on this situation and explain further???

It really does appear very much like the giant sort and funny enough it is associated with large amounts of fluid as it looks like a fractionating tower for a refinery.

Gets very hot, vibrates a lot from internal agitation and spews forth large quantities of frothy liquids. Good guess Wheels!

We did the whole tour of volcano's yesterday.

One little addition.  This stretch of road is worth every penny and minute you spend getting there.

Put a couple hundred miles on the bikes today and did the Rock Creek loop.   Stopped at Running Dogs to refresh on the way back to Naramata.   Fantastic adventure today.

Doctor Virago,    times have changed and June and I have our most important tool on our rides.  Our iphones.    Last I checked there were about 346 members on this site and many of them are just a phone call away so I feel there is quite the network there and so far we have not been stranded on our rides here or down at the coast.  I noticed the Norton seemed to feel a bit mushy yesterday but was very rideable and I could see anything wrong from the centrestand with the back end lifted up.  Howard was quick to notice when we were leaving his place that the back tire was low and out came the pump and guage and all was good again.   We have a limited supply of tools back here where we are staying but so far it has only been a few loose bolts to tighten on the Norton and a bit of an idle problem on the Honda so pretty simple stuff. 
Besides if one of the bikes decides to break down we are in one of the most beautiful spots in Canada and don't have a timeline so could sit on the side of the road and enjoy the country until help comes.  It seems when you shut off the Norton people come out of nowhere and ask questions so we wouldn't be stranded long.   Funny how everyone seems to have owned a Norton or had an uncle with one in the past.  I didn't realize they sold a million or so of them here in B.C.    ;)

Yep! Made some guys day yesterday. Out of now where comes this tall fella in his 60's with a thick old world accent. Yacked for a good 15 minutes.

Here's a little stop we made on Saturday, Hwy 5A, at Aspen Grove.     Man, it's been years since I've been on that road, it was pretty beat up last time, a real great road now......big sweepers, decent road surface, little traffic.  

This was all part of our excursion from Westbank (brekkie with Bear, Mr. and Mrs. Wheels, 754, then the three of us set off...oops, I mean the four of us) to Penticton, Green Mtn. Road, Keremeos for ice cream, Hedley for a scrounge through an antique place, Princeton for some truly bad lunch, then up to Aspen Grove and back along the Connector at barely sub-sonic speed.

Very good ride, all in all.  Here are our faithful steeds, and Henry, Mike, and Bill acting shy.

Mike's favouring his left arm as he tripped over a snow shovel in his garage on the way out......equipment anxious to get used, all the more reason to be out riding today.

Bear, June and I went to Bentley and looks like June is hooked on the Bonneville but we will have to sell the Shadow to make room as our home is full.  We looked for you on the highway but you must have been to fast for us and made it down the hill before we got back on the highway headed south.     It was a good morning and thanks for everyones company at coffee.    Bear we will let you know if we decide to grab that Triumph and thank you for showing it to us.

Okay need to send this pic of my daughter and myself together on our classic bicycle ride on Friday.  She still has a hard time keeping up with dad on the long straights and hills so that made my feel young again!!

 My buddy from Thailand showed up early yesterday.. Had a bunch of beers caught up on old times.. He figures he may be able to get old Vespas cheap over there, told him to scout around for motorcycles.
 He lives in a city of 8 million people within about a 60 mile circle..  About a third of the population of Canada right there.he says traffic sucks no fun for a bike. I suggested a new Renault Twizy if it will keep up in traffic.

I love them small towns..take pics of any gas pumps or old stations you see on the way..

Glenn, Rob and I went up to Gold river yesterday (Rob could only go to Campbell River and had to turn around) Glenn and I stayed in Gold River and came back today. About 800kms great time!! I'm thinking we should do a bccmc trip to Gold River next year. That road in is awesome!!!

754 Frank just replying to you know as we are back at home now.     My daughter is 19 years old and is my youngest child.  She lives in Kelowna with her mom and we managed to get her away from work for a day to go on the bike ride and dinner so another stellar day in the Okanagan.

Trevor,  that's my kind of shop!  June and I are still trying to find time to get over to the island before year end as that half a day in Ladysmith just isn't enough and we both enjoy the island.  Looks like we are probably rained in for a while so will likely just be doing short rides when nice days pop up.

Hey John, if you do come over to the Island be sure to let us know. I really would like to get a bccmc tour up to Gold River next year. :)

I'm certain that a bunch of us Lower Mainlanders would love to accompany you, but you have to promise it won't rain.
Some of us are old and grumpy and don't like getting our feet wet ;D

I'm gonna make this happen for next year (Aug) You guys have to do the 89kms from Campbell River to Gold River! It's in the top ten of best motorcycle roads in in BC! ;D

According to the guys at Destination Highways the Gold River road is ranked #4 in all of BC. After finally riding it with Trevor on Saturday and Sunday I think it is quite clear to me that this is the best road on the Island for sure! If you want to be aggressive it is technical enough to bring a smile to your face or if you just want to cruise and enjoy your surroundings it has loads of spectacular scenery. Win win! Its funny, I know how much it can rain at Gold River, but I've been there twice in the last couple of weeks and all I saw was sunshine...

I spent the weekend on the Island (went to the Ribfest blues event), I now understand why they say that Vancouver Island has a month called fogust, it comes after August but not always at the same time every year. Left the heat and sun of Chilliwack to spend a weekend in damp fog, however the ribs were incredible and the music was great.

I worked on the generators and paper machine at Gold river from '82 through to when they shut down and got to know that road extremely well. Never did it on a bike but it would be a trip I would take if something gets organised.

I took the Daytona out for it's only ride this year.It ran pretty good though the first 3-4 km's were a bit burbaly till some crap made it's way clear of the MJ on the rt side. Nice day for a ride, temp was perfect.

Hey Doc when I got home I found the wires from the Boyer Powerbox were melted. No wonder I blew a main fuse. New connections made, and so far so good.  thought I was smelling hot burning plastic.

A little cool out this afternoon but worth the short ride...I hear talk of a group ride next weekend if the weather holds,look forward to it  :)

Evil, Finn and I took a ride to meet up with Boris and Bear for lunch and it was a little cool , foggy in the morning and sunny on the way home.

Took the RZ to my wifes family reunion in Fairmont last weekend hoping to do some riding in the Columbia valley. Weather didn't cooperate but did get out once and terrorized Canal flats for couple hours. You guys living in that area sure have some beautiful places to ride. Coming back Monday weather was beautiful so took some pics of the bike piggybacking on the Moho. Really need to get out that way next summer when weather is more rider friendly.

How much weight will that bike carrier.....carry?  Inquiring minds would like to ask.

 Hey, does anyone remember the Inn Cola hotel that used to be just across the road and down abit from the peach? That was a badass place by the end. I stayed there a lot and whoo hoo, drinking out on the roof with the strippers when it was to hot outside to sleep in the rooms and so many other crazy things.

  I once stayed at the old Incola hotel, back in 1964.  Loud place, a bit rough as I recall.  I wandered into the bar for a short time.  Saw a group of half a dozen cops walk in, and through, just to 'show the flag".  I hardly recognize the old Okanagan waterfront anymore, and I lived in Penticton from '82 until '90, then up the road in Summerland for another 3 years.  Good memories of a lot of great rides with the "Sun Country Riders".

 We called it the Uncola, the pavement was pockmarked with kickstand ruts..

 We lost some really EPIC BC Hotels in the last 25 years..

 I should mention .. I have a vintage club patch of unknown origin..it says HWY 97 RIDERS..i believe..never been able to dig up info.
